How to Get Your Disabled Instagram Account Back – Fast!

It’s a problem that comes from many people’s worst Instagram nightmare— you try to log into your Instagram account, and you find it’s been disabled, or even worse, deleted! Cue horror music.

Unfortunately, if your account has been deleted, there’s no way to fully restore your account from this status. Even if it wasn’t deleted, it can be frustrating when you’re looking to contact Instagram and you can’t find what you’re looking for. One thing we’ve noticed is that a lot of people spend their time searching for Instagram’s customer service number so they can restore access after it’s been disabled.

Sadly enough, this is actually a big waste of time. How can you actually contact Instagram so that your account will be restored?

It’s not easy to find the correct avenue for contacting Instagram, but even without doing that, you do have a few different options to make sure you get access to your account once more.

What Do You Do When Your Instagram Account is Disabled?

It’s not surprising that most people first decide to search for Instagram’s customer service number on Google, but that typically turns out terrible results.

Why? A true Instagram contact number doesn’t exist.

Yes, you’ll find a few different phone numbers after searching for the Instagram customer service number, but these won’t help you solve your problem—they’re not legitimate.

It’s quite tedious and can cause a bit of frustration, but don’t worry. There are a few things you can do to get your account back and in working order.

If you’re looking to restore your Instagram account after having it disabled, you can check out our three favorite methods below!

Restore Your Instagram Option 1: The Direct Approach

Direct Approach

Instagram has its own recommendations for what to do if your account was disabled; the first thing they recommend is to appeal the decision to disable your account.

You can do so by “opening the app, entering your username and password, and following the on-screen instructions.” When your account is disabled, you’ll receive an error message, so you’ll need to click the Learn More button to get to the appeal process.

If you click OK, the menu will disappear and you’ll be left there with not much to do.

After you hit Learn More, you will be prompted to go through a series of menus. The last requirement is that you attach a business document to your appeal; this is only if you have a business or professional account that represents a business.

This is generally the best option because you’re contacting Instagram directly and bringing their attention to your disabled account. If that option doesn’t work, you’re not completely out of luck— there are still other things you can do before giving up entirely.

Restore Your Instagram Option 2: Report!

Report

If you had no luck with appealing the decision to disable your Instagram, you’ll want to head over to Instagram’s Privacy and Safety Center and access the Report Something menu.

When your account gets disabled from content that a hacker posted, you’ll be able to report it through this menu. There’s no way to guarantee that your report will get a response, but if you’re reporting a hacker, it’s likely to be addressed.

Restore Your Instagram Option 3: Get Social and Be Visible

Get Social

If the previous two options haven’t helped you to get your Instagram account back, there is one other option which could become a bit more public. You can reach out to Instagram’s Facebook or Twitter accounts. Yes, Instagram is on other social networks!

Send them direct messages instead of posting on their public feed; if you have a serious problem and you want to get more visibility, you could post on their public feed, but you also don’t want to get into hot water with Instagram. At the end of the day, you need them.

Responses aren’t guaranteed here either, but perhaps your persistence will pay off over time. Keep writing until you hear from someone.

No matter which method you go with, make sure that you’re as specific as possible when describing what happened to your Instagram account. You must provide your username, but any supporting details or screenshots is useful as well.

Also remember, as we mentioned above, you need Instagram. Going off on them via messages and using profanity isn’t likely to reflect that you’re a worthwhile person that needs to be on Instagram. Keep things in control and remember that you’re looking for support. Being rude and uncontrollable isn’t going to help.

Why is my Instagram Account Diabled Anyway?

Instagram

If you’re reading this article, chances are you’ve been frustrated by a disabled Instagram account. It’s likely that you’ve sought help through Instagram Community Guidelines and/or Terms of Use to see what happened and where you got yourself into trouble.

It’s not a bad idea to check it out after the fact, but to avoid this in the future, make sure that you don’t violate the rules in the first place. Instagram fiercely protects the integrity of its platform and doesn’t feel bad at all if they have to block you or delete you.

It may not even be something super intentional; while most people realize that you shouldn’t be posting elicit or harmful content, sharing content that you don’t have the rights to can also get you shut down. If you don’t know the conditions and terms of use, give them a good read so that you can avoid any issues in the future.

Even though it may seem like nothing to you, Instagram takes it seriously and will absolutely penalize you for stealing content from others. Be very careful when “borrowing” material and always make sure to tag the OP.

Another common reason for accounts being disabled is spam content. When you post over and over about the same thing, Instagram begins to wonder what’s going on.

We understand you want to boost your Instagram visibility and sell your products or services, but you have to make sure that you keep your content and engagements in line with Instagram and not spam people. Instagram cares a lot about the user experience so if you’re constantly spamming users, you’re likely to get dinged.

Final Thoughts: How to Get Your Disabled Instagram Back

We wish we could have provided you with a phone number to contact Instagram, but it doesn’t exist. If you’re having trouble with your Instagram account, the above three tips can help you to restore your disabled account.

If you have another issue with your Instagram account, you’ll have to reach out to support via email as they don’t offer phone support. With 1 billion monthly active users, it’s probably for the best!
